As general contractors, attention to detail and quality construction are our top priorities, and we work to instill confidence and trust in our customers. Company founders Chris Stone and Robert Montgomery are both personally involved in each project. We are a “hands on” construction company.
The “Stone-Montgomery family,” as we like to call our faithful crew of design and construction experts, are just that: a family. We work together to bring your construction dreams to life.

Company History
Stone-Montgomery was founded June 6, 1990 as a general contracting company specializing in residential and commercial construction and remodeling in Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach and surrounding areas of North Carolina including New Hanover County, Leland, and Hampstead.
Chris Stone
As one half of the founding partners at Stone-Montgomery, Chris grew up in Wrightsville Beach. Throughout high school and college, Chris enjoyed building with his dad, a residential homebuilder and developer in Wrightsville Beach and Wilmington, NC. After his father’s retirement, he started with Reagan Construction Co. in Wilmington. At Reagan, he supervised and coordinated a wide range of commercial and industrial projects for 17 years before becoming a partner in 1982. He remained there until 1990, when he and Robert founded Stone-Montgomery Construction in Wilmington, NC.

Robert Montgomery Robert began his construction career by working part-time while attending college. He also worked for Reagan Construction Co. as a superintendent for 14 years, overseeing new construction as well as renovation and restoration projects. Robert worked for Reagan until founding Stone-Montgomery in 1990. He has a passion for making customers happy through quality commercial construction, residential construction and remodel construction, especially residential construction. |
Chris Stone and Robert Montgomery have a combined total of more than 50 years of experience in the building industry in all areas of construction – commercial and residential construction and expansions, remodeling and renovating. Both founders are currently members of the Wilmington Contractors Association, Inc. and hold their North Carolina Unlimited License for General Contractors.
